To Contribute to Thresholds: Counselling with Spirit Thresholds is the quarterly professional journal of the Association for Pastoral and Spiritual Care and Counselling (APSCC). It is published on behalf of the Association by the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy. Contributions to Thresholds are always welcome. These can be letters, or articles (max 2,200 words). Thresholds aims to be readable and professional. It is not an academic journal and articles should not be over-burdened with footnotes. Use of a personal voice is perfectly acceptable, as long as the personal connects to broader experience or invites others to connect and reflect. Authors need to keep the audience in view. Thresholds readers (APSCC members, Subscribers and a wide variety of organisations) are a varied group. Many are counsellors and psychotherapists, but not all. Many have a faith commitment, but not all. Please avoid assuming readers share your assumptions or beliefs: ‘As Christians/Muslims/Pagans we...', or using language specific to one spiritual or therapeutic tradition without explaining your terms. Authors also need to be careful not to plagiarise and to acknowledge sources. Any photographs or diagrams submitted need to have copyright permission. (see further details below) References, where used, should be written in strict Vancouver style, as shown below. Journals: 7 Smith OCD, Saunders E. Help with excessive editing: some practical guidelines. Journal of Silly Health. 1995; 4(3):4-10. Books: 1 Fox C, Hawton J. Deliberate self-harm in adolescence. 2nd ed. London: Jessica Kingsley Publishers; 2004. Chapters of books: 8 Smith JA, Osborn M. Interpretative phenomenological analysis. In: Smith JA (ed). Qualitative psychology. London: Sage Publications; 2003. Submission requirements: - Case studies - they make interesting and valuable reading. However, authors submitting a case study within their article are required to state in writing that either the case study is fictitious or a composite or, if an actual case study, that the client is not now recognisable from the text and that the client's informed consent has been given.
- Copyright - the author is responsible for obtaining permission to use written or visual material from a third party and must provide evidence that this has been obtained. This includes, for example, any pictures, tables, diagrams or extracts. Copyright for the article is retained by BACP unless otherwise agreed with the editor.
- Author statement - the author should confirm that the manuscript has not been submitted elsewhere, or been accepted by any other publication, and should send a declaration that the article is their own work.
- Please include no more than 30 words of biographical information including current work, relevant qualifications, research interests etc, and confirm if you would like your email address published.
How to submit an article Please contact acting editor Jacqueline Gray. Publication is not guaranteed. Authors who are not APSCC members may ask to see a sample edition in advance to have a clearer sense of Thresholds' style. Please include with your submission your name, address, daytime telephone number and email address, if available. |
