Welcome from Lynette Harborne, Chair, APSCC Chris Jenkins
We are very sad to have to announce that Chris Jenkins, Chair of APSCC and editor of Thresholds, died in hospital on Tuesday 23 August 2011. There will be memories of Chris in the winter edition of Thresholds |
Welcome to the new APSCC website. APSCC (The Association for Pastoral & Spiritual Care & Counselling) is concerned not only with those who work as counsellors and psychotherapists, chaplains or pastoral carers within faith communities but, far more broadly, with all those in the counselling and psychotherapy field who take spirituality seriously and wish to take their clients' spirituality seriously! Through our journal, Thresholds, and through lively conferences we hold open a place of conversation for those from a wide variety of spiritual and therapeutic beliefs. A place where, for example, an agnostic person-centred therapist and a Catholic Jungian can both be at home- and can enrich each other! Where the tradition of pastoral care is taken seriously and its wisdom can be drawn on.
If you are already a member or are considering whether this is the division for you please read on. Our membership has grown rapidly in recent years and, again and again, new members say ‘This is what I've been looking for'. Do join in with the conversation! Message from Lynne Gabriel, BACP Chair
"Dear All
It is with great pleasure that I say 'hello' to you and acknowledge how much I look forward to working with you - through your Acting Chair, Lynette Harbourne, the APSCC Executive, and at various BACP events.
Yours is a rapidly growing and highly valued Division. It is testimony to the strength brought about through members' interest in, and engagement with, spiritual and pastoral matters. The wellbeing of body, soul and spirit has never seemed so vitally important - we live in such turbulent, challenging and disturbing times; soul- and spirit-food is essential sustenance in such times and serves to contain, nurture and transport us to inspirational thought and action. You constitute a key BACP Division and I value your work and the contribution you make to our profession. I look forward to witnessing your ongoing development and growth.
with kind regards
Dr Lynne Gabriel Chair, BACP"
